CHARACTER
NAME: Aigis
CANON: Persona 3
CANON POINT: Endgame, the day after Minako's death
AGE: Activated about 10.5 years prior to her canon point, but all Anti-Shadow weapons like her are physically built as older teens and are designed to mentally develop very quickly. She's the mental equivalent of 17 now.
BACKGROUND: Here.

PERSONALITY:
Being that Aigis is a machine built to utilize a power based on the psyche of a human, she was basically doomed from the start to live a life of puzzling duality and existential uncertainty. The themes of life and death are central to Persona 3, and they're present in Aigis's arc in the form of her learning what it means to be truly alive, as her perception of herself changes from "a machine that functions" to "a person that lives."

Aigis's greatest flaws are wrapped up in this conflict of self. Though she's further along the road to accepting her unique existence, she's deeply insecure about balancing her burgeoning humanity with her mechanical nature. At her canon point, she believes herself to be the last of the anti-Shadow weapons, and she tends to find her existence more lonely than special. She often compares herself to her human teammates, even after becoming more accepting of herself, because that's her only point of reference for how to live.

Moreso than most people, Aigis needs a purpose. She's a machine, and a machine is built for a purpose. While she learns that she's not bound to the purpose for which she was built, and that she's free to choose her own, she still needs a purpose to continue on. To fail in her purpose, or to lack one at all, shakes her to her core. Because of this propensity for existential uncertainty, even though Aigis has a strong desire to do the right thing, she sometimes finds herself unsure of what the right thing is, and she can get caught up in indecision and self-doubt when it comes to matters that don't have a straightforward answer.

Luckily, this is offset by decisiveness and competence in other ways. As she was built to be a weapon, Aigis has high situational awareness and extensive knowledge of many things combat-related, which gives her confidence in anything related to logical decision-making and (usually) enables her to react with a clearer head in tense situations. Since her emotions have developed further and she's had to adjust to them, she's a little more prone to getting caught up in her feelings, but she's still capable of leading and making rational decisions quickly when need be.

Due in part to her design and in part to her desire to understand the human experience, Aigis is also very curious, which...has its pros and cons. She's quick to ask questions or say that she doesn't understand something, because communicating that clearly and getting an answer is the most efficient way of increasing her understanding! But sometimes this can become rudeness or invasive behavior, since Aigis lacks the proper cultural and social context to draw the line between curiosity and creepiness... She's not breaking into Minako's locked room to make sure she hasn't died in her sleep anymore, at least, but there are just certain cultural norms that Aigis doesn't grasp even though she does her best to blend in.

Her biggest strengths, though, are her loyalty and compassion. Her loyalty to the protagonist is the core of her behavior from the moment she reawakens on Yakushima. She devotes herself entirely to being near Minako so that she can protect her. Gradually, as Aigis's more human side develops, this loyalty extends to the rest of SEES, as they go from being allies in combat to being friends and she experiences their hardships with them. Even when she's reprogrammed in an attempt to kill them, Aigis's loyalty overrides the command and she frees her teammates instead of hurting them. This loyalty to her friends and to Minako is Aigis's purpose; she will always try to act in the way that keeps them safest...sometimes even if they might not agree with her, if she truly determines that to be the best course of action.

Though she still has a lot to learn about life and humanity, Aigis is very kind and empathetic. She understands how difficult it can be to cope with pain and sadness and she longs to help ease that burden in others even if she isn't sure how. From cranky teens to lonely grandmothers and even to lost pets, Aigis is happy to help alleviate challenges in life wherever she can. She was told that her original purpose as an Anti-Shadow Suppression Weapon was to protect humanity from the threat of Shadows. That wasn't exactly true, but it's something she took to heart anyway. For all the awful things that humans do, Aigis still believes that humanity is worth protecting. Sometimes that doesn't mean combat...sometimes that just means fighting back the world's tide of misery by being kind.

So she cares very deeply about people and other living things, even if she isn't always sure of the best way to express it. Unfortunately, directly following Minako's death, Aigis becomes more withdrawn. Not unkind, but simply shut down, wracked by grief and guilt for failing to fulfill her promise to protect Minako, and deeply afraid of the idea of living without her. It can be seen in The Answer that she will still fight to protect the well-being of her friends, and being from the P3P route wouldn't change that core part of her, but in the wake of Minako's death she does find it much more difficult to engage with people on an emotional level. As you do when you're grieving. She'll be able to act more herself as she processes this loss, as it doesn't change who she is, but it will take time; it represents the ultimate loss of purpose for her, after all.

POWERS/ABILITIES: Aigis has...a variety of interesting things she can do, being a robot with a Persona, but I will do my best to be both comprehensive and concise!

Personas: See the link for more detailed info, but basically a Persona is a manifestation of the user's psyche which can be summoned to do battle with. Different Personas have different active and passive skills that can be used when they are equipped as the primary Persona. I'll be applying the same nerfs/game-balancing effects found in Minako's application (with the player's permission to refer to her app.) Physical attacks are divided into three types: slashing, striking, or piercing.

• Athena (VII: Chariot Arcana)
◦ Blocks piercing damage, weak to electricity-based attacks
Dekunda (multi-target, allies; nullifies stat penalties), Masukukaja (multi-target, allies; increases hit/evasion rate), Marakukaja (multi-target, allies; increases defense), Diarahan (single-target, allies; fully restores HP), Matarukaja (multi-target, allies; increases attack), Samarecarm (single-target, allies; revives from unconsciousness, fully restoring HP), Akasha Arts (multi-target, foes; heavy striking damage 1-2 times), God's Hand (single-target, foes; severe striking damage)

Wild Card, sort of: It's shown in The Answer that Aigis is capable of awakening to the power of the Wild Card, which enables the user to hold multiple Personas. This is not an ability that Aigis has access to currently and isn't SUPER likely to awaken to under the circumstances in Prismatica, but those MC vibes are still inside her and Personas are always capable of metamorphosing due to them representing the user's psyche so I thought I should still mention this.

Orgia Mode: Aigis is able to disable her limiters to drastically increase damage output. However, while in Orgia Mode she is unable to take further orders and eventually overheats, so she requires a significant cooldown period after using it.

Universal Communication: ...sort of. With some bullshit JRPG science referred to as sending images and described as "weaker versions of the voice communication human beings use," Aigis is able to get the gist of what a living thing is trying to communicate. She says that this does not make her able to understand the language being used, so she doesn't actually know every language on the planet, but she's able to understand the intent of messages being communicated. She mainly uses this with dogs and cats in canon, but she says that all living things send these images...so presumably it would apply across the spoken language barrier too. I think the old dead Prismal language mostly shows up as written in the setting, which wouldn't apply for this, but I'm happy to say this ability wouldn't work on Prismals in general and would work only with permission from other player characters.

Shadow & Persona Sense: One of her functions as an anti-Shadow weapon, Aigis can sense the nearby presence of Shadows. And since Personas are Shadows, she's able to sense those nearby too if a Persona-user is present. Provided she was familiar with the Persona in question prior to its change, she can also sense when they have metamorphosed as a result of a change in the user's psyche. This sense only works within a short range, like being in the same room or down the hall. She is also just generally more sensitive to and aware of other physical presences.

Clocks, Timers, Thermometers, Etc.: She has an assorted collection of functions related to monitoring her environment. She can time things, knows the exact sunrise/sunset times (implying she has an internal clock), can take the temperature of a room/person/object, and can monitor certain vitals like temperature, pulse, and breathing. You know, stuff that might be relevant in a combat situation.

Toolbox: She has a drill built into her body, you know, for some godforsaken reason. I am assuming this is not considered a weapon but if it is I'll toss it LOL

Interchangeable Parts: Her legs and arms especially are built to easily swap different equipment onto. She can put all kinds of wild gun attachments on her arms... They do have to be specially built for her but since Prismatica's tech level is what it is it's probably worth mentioning.

INVENTORY:
• SEES Evoker: Used by the organic members of SEES to bring forth their Personas; Aigis does not use an Evoker, but she kept Minako's after her death.
• Medusa & 1 reload of ammunition: A set of hand unit guns that fire from all her fingers.
• Metatronius & 1 reload of ammunition: A large arm-mounted gun, decorated with angel wings that extend when it's fired.
• Papillon Method: Colorful armor chest plate built for Aigis's body. Slightly increases the power of magical attacks.
• Swan Legs: Leg parts for Aigis with an angel motif. Make her more nimble, increasing evasion.
• Summon | Persona: Athena

MOONBLESSING: Sanguis
